Alexander Spellane made his first million before the age of 30. So it’s not surprising that he believes in the American dream — he’s lived it. More importantly, he knows that success is not something unique to his own circumstances.
“Prosperity is within reach of any American,” says Spellane. “One way to create wealth for any individual, family, or business is to understand the benefits of gold and silver.”
As the founder and CEO of Los Angeles-based Fisher Capital Group, Spellane guides clients through a range of precious metals diversification options, from hard-to-find limited-mintage bullion coins to physical gold IRAs for secure retirements. Ranked among “America’s Fastest Growing Precious Metals Companies” by Forbes, Fisher Capital Group also proudly demonstrates its respect for the enduring American values of family, faith, freedom, and fair dealing.
Recently we had the pleasure of talking in-depth with Alexander Spellane, in a wide-ranging conversation partially reprinted below.
Q: You’ve proven your business acumen by becoming a millionaire at an early age. What made you focus your entrepreneurial energy on gold?
Alexander Spellane: In many ways, that’s the same question that’s been asked for centuries: Why gold? What is it about gold that’s made it so central to the history of man? From the gifts of the Magi to the gold treasures that both financed and fueled the exploration of the New World, the importance of this precious metal has been recognized across cultures and through the ages. It’s always had intrinsic value, and that’s not going to change.
Today, gold is many things: it can be a safe harbor in perilous times — and we are certainly in perilous times. It’s an anchor of security, a vehicle to achieve our dreams, a tangible symbol of opportunity. Gold can add stability to retirement planning through a physical gold IRA, and limited-mintage bullion gold coins provide an added level of security. Even in times of government confiscation of gold, coins are often able to survive in private collections. Gold can diversify a retail investor’s portfolio, providing the reassurance that the portfolio’s value will never drop to zero; because throughout the history of the world, gold has always carried great value.
Q: What about silver?
Alexander Spellane: Silver has also been a way to preserve and create wealth in many places and times, but its history is a bit more volatile. One reason is that it is more plentiful than gold and easier to find and mine.
On the other hand, demand for silver is steadily increasing. Silver is used in a range of industrial processes, including many of the newer green technologies. From cell phones and computers to medical equipment, solar panels and vehicles, silver is an essential commodity.
Q: What are the options a customer has for buying gold or silver through Fisher Capital?
Alexander Spellane:
There are two ways you can purchase gold or silver – inside a retirement account or as a direct purchase. Since we can ship directly to clients, with a direct purchase you have the option of having that delivered to your doorstep. However, if you’re not comfortable having it at home, or if you’re purchasing it within a retirement account, you can have the gold or silver stored at a repository which is kind of like your own private vault.
In addition, you can have your gold and silver insured for up to a billion dollars in liabilities. So for people who are concerned about the FDIC insurable limit for their bank deposits, it’s a really good option to give them added peace of mind.
Q: You have been active politically, aligning Fisher Capital with major conservative leaders. What is the reasoning behind linking gold to a political cause?
Alexander Spellane: Thank you for asking that, because there is at times a misconception. We are focused on American values, not personalities. Our deep respect for traditional principles predates our founding of the company and underscores everything that we do.
It’s one reason we are creating the Fisher Capital Group Foundation, which will help U.S. military veterans meet the complex challenges they too often face. We honor our servicemen and women and we love our country. Our love of America isn’t abstract; it’s based on the values Americans have long upheld here and around the world. If a political party, movement or leader demonstrates fidelity to these same foundational principles, we are on their team, one hundred percent. We absolutely believe in making America golden again.
