Over the last two decades, Kimberly has worked as a designer, was CEO of a yacht refit company, specialized in luxury at Boat International Media and has been involved in the success of some of the most prestigious events around the globe. Having been a part of the 1% sector herself, she obtained an understanding that would allow her to speak in a unique way to her luxury clientele. Through this special language, she has been able to create bespoke partnership opportunities utilizing select event and media outlets for the most sought after companies in the world.
What is your entrepreneur story? How did you come about building your business?
I have always had a natural flair for art and design and I spent many years creating beautiful spaces. Later in my career, I would focus more of my talents on my own homes, yachts, and jets before “retiring early” to travel the world. Ironically, 3 years into my travels I decided that I would go crazy without something to focus my creative energy on so I devoted a few years learning how things functioned in the media world. I loved seeing things from “behind the scenes” and learned so much about monetizing contacts, business development and forming partnerships with in-kind brands. I decided to launch my own consulting firm based on my unique understanding of the UHNW environment, my knowledge as a pilot and my ability to create bespoke opportunities for growth.
What is your business model — how were you able to grow so fast?
My business model revolves around helping people grow. We help on a business development level through guidance in the yachting, aviation or design sectors and we also help on a personal level with motivational and inspirational development. We are always growing, studying and adapting our business model based on the needs of our clients.
Can you give me an overview of who you are, what is your educational or overall background? What are some of your achievements?
While I have some college education, I would describe myself more as “street smart”. I am always educating and re-inventing myself based on the many chapters I have lived. I married my soulmate, I’ve raised 2 wonderful children, CEO’d a company that launched a 222 foot Shadow Boat, obtained a pilots license and I’ve written a book recently that will launch this September so I think it’s safe to say that I’ve accomplished a few pretty cool things in my life.
What have you learned through your experiences as an entrepreneur that can be used by aspiring business individuals?
I’ve learned that failures will happen in business and that’s okay. What’s important is that you pick yourself back up, learn from those failures, adjust your methods and never give up on your dreams.
What makes your business so unique and successful?
I have an extremely unique insight into the world of the 1% because I have been one myself. I speak a special language and that is a viable commodity in the luxury field.
What have you learned through your journey as an entrepreneur?
Dream big, work diligently on something you’re passionate about and believe in yourself no matter what. “Dreams don’t work unless you do” and doing something you love provides motivation, energy, and inspiration each day!
What skills and attributes make you as successful as you are?
Daydreaming, visualizing, focusing on the end result and believing in the project itself.
Why is online business, marketing, etc important?
In today’s world, it goes with the way customers are making decisions. It enables you to build relationships with customers and leads with personalized communication that is low cost. And you are able to take advantage of the growing social media platform which is apparently leading to additional growth in companies.
Is there anything, in particular, you’d like me to add in the articles?
Shamelessly, I would love to promote my book “What would you do if you had $1M Dollars?” As mentioned earlier, it launches this September.
