The skills shortage is a major challenge for UK businesses, as it lowers productivity and profits.

The British economy is still struggling to recover from the pandemic, according to the latest data. The economy is 0.5% smaller than it was before the pandemic, and experts say that the main reasons for this are the lingering effects of the pandemic and the tighter post-Brexit immigration rules.

The ongoing skills shortage is a major challenge for businesses, but it is also an opportunity for those who are proactive. Here are our top tips for businesses facing labor challenges in 2023.

UK industries with skills shortages

To begin, it is important to identify the industries in the UK that are most affected by the skills shortage. A recent study found that the country’s biggest shortfalls are in a variety of sectors, including:

Transport and logistics: This sector is facing a shortage of skilled drivers, warehouse workers, and customs agents.

Hospitality: This sector is facing a shortage of skilled chefs, waiters, and hotel staff.

Manufacturing and construction: These sectors are facing a shortage of skilled engineers, carpenters, and electricians.

Invest in your workforce for long-term success

Recruiting top talent is a time-sensitive process, as there is only a limited pool of qualified candidates available. A recruitment agency can help you find the right people quickly and efficiently.

Recruitment agencies have wider referral networks as a third party, allowing them to identify candidates with the necessary work experience. They also focus on different industries, so you can locate an agency that meets your specific requirements.

Recruitment agencies can help you find new talent with the core skills to help your company reach its goals.

Invest in your workforce to boost your business
Often, the skills you need are already present in your workforce, but they may not be fully utilized. By upskilling your employees, you can give them the skills they need to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Upskilling your workforce can be a great way to improve your business and the skills of your employees. By following these tips, you can make the upskilling process a success.

Organizations with more resources may even pay for their employees to enroll in external training programs offered by universities or colleges. This personalized investment in your workforce can build loyalty and even provide a valuable public relations opportunity.

Utilise Apprenticeship to train and upskill your workforce
Apprenticeships can be a long-term solution to skills shortages. They can help employers reach a wider talent pool and offer prospective employees a strong, high-quality alternative to the traditional university degree.

A multi-pronged approach to recruitment that includes building relationships with educational institutions can help businesses find top talent at the source.

Boost your marketing reach and visibility
A strong marketing strategy can make your company more attractive to prospective employees. This is because it can help to increase brand awareness and generate interest in your company. You can partner with local educational institutions, promote your job openings on social media and in the local press, and track your results to improve your marketing strategy and attract future employees.

Welcome to the whirlwind of moving — are you ready? Now that your career is taking you somewhere new, the to-do list seems endless. You and your family have a lot on your plate before, during, and after the move. Presented by CEO Medium, here is a framework to help you think through your relocation and get started with moving your business, finding a place to live, finding important services, helping your family settle in, and addressing issues.

Moving Your Business

If you own your own business, there are steps you’ll need to take to transfer everything over. If you’re registered as an LLC, you’ll first need to ensure that no other company already has the same name. The state of Illinois also requires you to have an agent for the process, and the registered agent must have a physical address in the state. You’ll need to file articles of organization with the secretary of state, including information like the address of the LLC’s main place of business and a statement regarding the LLC’s duration. It might be a good idea to hire outside help to expedite the process, especially since you’ll be busy with other moving tasks.

Finding a Place to Live

Shopping for a new home is obviously one of the most important steps in moving, and you may benefit from hiring a real estate broker. You’ll want to consider which areas are safest for your family, as well as proximity to parks and community centers. Investigate the prices of homes in each neighborhood. Don’t go too far over budget, but try to be flexible if it’s realistic. Additionally, you should consider renting instead of buying. Some area can be quite expensive, and sometimes it’s simply more realistic to rent. You’ll also want to research schools so your child(ren) receives the best education possible.

Protecting Your New Property

Once you’ve picked out that perfect property, you’ll want to take steps to ensure it stays in excellent condition. Purchasing homeowners insurance is a crucial step in the home-buying process, as these policies can help offer some financial padding against damage caused by accidents or disasters (a severe storm, for instance). However, the average cost of insurance varies from state to state, so be sure to do plenty of research beforehand. As an example, if you plan to purchase a home in Florida, you can expect to pay roughly $1,960 on average for a policy, though this number will depend on the coverage you need and the company that supplies it. Explore various homeowners insurance options before making a decision about which one to get.

Services to Look For

Whether you decide to rent or buy, your new home will need regular maintenance. You should jump right on the task of finding the services you’ll need, especially handyman services. Do your research and check out reviews online from previous customers. Pay close attention to things like responsiveness, punctuality, and of course, quality of work. You’ll want to do this before even meeting with anyone and receiving a quote. You should also look for deals. For example, some handymen may offer new customer discounts. And don’t forget to search for a plumber. These two service workers will be indispensable both during move-in and after you’re settled.

Helping Your Family Settle In

Moving isn’t just physically hard, it takes its mental and emotional tolls, too. It’s often hardest on the kids, who have probably only known one home. Try helping ease the stress by having them write goodbye letters to the house. It can include favorite memories and things they’ll miss the most. Once in the new home, Marrin’s Moving suggests playing games like hide-and-seek to help the little ones explore their new surroundings. Unpack their rooms first so they feel more comfortable.

Potential Issues

No move comes without its challenges, so be prepared. Teamwork.com recommends staying on top of all of your work duties by using project management software to manage deadlines. Create daily to-do lists for both work and moving responsibilities. Communicate with your team and delegate what you can. And don’t forget your family. Don’t let them get lost in the chaos. Make yourself available to them while you’re home, even if you’re working on moving tasks. It’s important they know that the move isn’t more important than them, but rather the move is important for the family.

It will take time to finalize your move. Don’t rush through tasks, and let your family get involved when possible. Moving your business, finding a new home, finding vital services in your new area, helping your family settle in, and facing potential issues are all a part of the process. So, take a deep breath and get ready to conquer!

Jackie Geisler, CEO, and Founder of Live Free Fitness helps women change their bodies, minds, and lives. Jackie grew up playing sports and went on to play both collegiate lacrosse and soccer for Dickinson College. However, just because someone plays sports and is active does not mean they are healthy.

Over the course of her college career, Jackie gained 30 lbs, lost all confidence, and created a terrible relationship with food, alcohol, exercise, her body, and herself. It wasn’t until after graduation when she was finally able to take a step back and realize what was really going on. The problem was one that many women face these days because of the current “diet” or “weight loss” cultural norms. These norms say people can lose weight fast. They promote methods of weight loss or change that are not meant to last for a lifetime. They also only consider two main elements: getting the body moving and changing up the amount of food that is to be consumed.

Let’s be honest though: weight loss is completely non-linear, it takes a different set of skills to keep the weight off once it’s lost, and there is so much more that plays a role in improving our overall health than just a meal plan and workout program can account for.

Jackie started to really see change when she leaned away from the quick-fix mentality that floods the health and wellness space. She started slowing down, took other things into consideration, looked at lifestyle/routines/habits, got external support, and worked on her mindset and mental health.

Fast forward to today, she has completely transformed her mind, body, and life and is helping other women end the back and forth and quick-fix mentality. Live Free Fitness helps women through their signature program: Freedom Foundation (FF).

Real sustainable change takes TIME and a decent amount of it. It takes time, support, accountability, mentorship, guidance, and intentional action-taking.

Live Free Fitness programs are designed around FOUR major pillars.

DEEP HEALTH

Deep health means that our health is so much more than just following a meal plan template and workout guide. Our health is multifaceted. In order to have that true lifestyle change, the conversation needs to include routines, habits, sleep, stress, hormones, self-care, environment, relationships, etc. The list goes on and on…

This might seem daunting at first but LFF has three levels of programming to teach everything from the basics all the way up to mastery level health and wellness. There is Freedom Foundation (where 99.5% of people will start), Freedom Acceleration, And Freedom Mastery.

STRATEGY

When it comes to strategy, LFF factors in two very important values: sustainability and lifestyle. Sustainability is one of the biggest pillars. Whatever changes are desired, need to change that can still be done in a year from now, two years from now, and beyond. Otherwise, it’s just a waste of time. Focus on making changes that can be kept. Start with small changes and work up from there. The other value is a lifestyle, meaning lifestyle-oriented change. We are all humans with issues and problems but at the end of the day, we all have different things going on. What works for one woman is not what’s going to work for someone else. Each person’s lifestyle needs to be taken into account and needs to be part of the conversation.

MINDSET

This one is absolutely a 100% non-negotiable element of working with LFF. A change in mindset leads to sustainable change. It’s what makes it a change in lifestyle, not just a weight loss program. So many programs out there in the health and fitness space do not touch on mindset, and it’s a damn shame. Our mindset is the foundation for all of our thoughts, routines, habits, and subconscious patterns. In order to stay consistent, we need to shift our mindset to be in a more optimistic and deliberate place. Mindset coaching is included in most of our coaching conversations.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Sometimes people just need support to get to where they want to go and that’s beautiful. Coach Jackie spends thousands of dollars a year on her own coaching and mentors. She was a 2 sport college athlete and someone who loved nutrition but still could not get herself to do the things she needed to do, consistently enough to see results without a coach and community support. Having the right amount of customized accountability makes it easier to have higher standards, get supported, and get encouraged.

Poor communication

The biggest block for any relationship will always be poor communication. This is by far the most common thing that couples fall down on, and when this happens, the doors are open for all sorts of difficulties to arrive.

Good communication is something that is often at taken for granted and yet in all honesty, is one of the hardest things to achieve.

We might think that as long as we are talking to each other, we are good communicators, but there is far more to it than just that. Being able to understand our emotions and express them to our partner at all points of the relationship is essential, but this becomes so much harder when we enter into a period of conflict or difficulty. At these times it is easy to get into bad habits such as shouting, bickering, arguing, sulking, or thinking that the other one should know what we are thinking or feeling without explicitly expressing it.

Good communication is about being able to express difficult emotions in spite of them being hard. To express hurt, sadness, disappointment and to feel that we are being not only heard but understood and valued.

All relationships have ups and downs, but a solid, healthy relationship needs to be able to weather the storms and this can only be done when both partners are communicating effectively and respectfully with each other.

Emotional barriers/fear of getting hurt

This leads on from communication and can be complex in its own right. Emotional barriers are created as a way of protecting ourselves from being hurt. Here we can often look to our inner child (or teenager) to find the origin of such behaviors.

If we have been hurt in the past, it is only natural that we protect ourselves from being hurt again. That is after all how we learn as children not to touch hot things and put ourselves in dangerous situations. Heartache is no different and whether it be past love or a difficult family upbringing, those barriers are there for very good reason. The reality is that we can never truly find love if we aren’t willing to risk being hurt or vulnerable; trusting that even if you hurt each other, you will always love and support each other.

Lack of trust

I don’t see how any relationship can really go the distance if there is a fundamental lack of trust. Trust is everything in a relationship, regardless of whether that is around fidelity, honesty, or anything else. Trusting your partner and also trusting yourself, links strongly to unconditional love. When you really trust and love each other, you accept that even though things won’t always be easy, you have each other’s support. When a relationship lacks trust, that support cannot be relied on. The value of honesty and integrity is the cornerstone of most relationships. If they aren’t there, I believe the stability of the relationship is seriously compromised.

You are not accountable for the difficulties in the relationship

No matter what the situation, the simple fact is that there are two people in a relationship and as such both of you are responsible for the difficulties as well as the strengths. Some people really struggle with this and like to put all of the blame on just one person, but by virtue of it being a relationship, we have to consider that both people are responsible to a greater or lesser degree.

When difficulties arise, it is very rarely 100% on one person‘s shoulders. How relationships develop over time, habits form, taking each other for granted, communication difficulties, emotional barriers, or anything else can only be managed if the communication is good and effective and if both people take accountability for where they are at.

If you are able to do that, your relationship will likely go from strength to strength. Accountability, good communication, and trust are the building blocks to any good solid relationship. When we are able to consider that it takes two people to make a relationship as well as break it, is likely to last the distance.

The Slay Brand is a web-based clothing boutique, run by owner Kesha Tillman a Virginia native. Running strong for the past eight years, The Slay Brand offers fashionable styles that are always on-trend, while managing to be unique at the same time. The boutique which has tens of thousands of followers on Instagram attracts you to their fashion as soon as you click on their website. As a black-owned business, Slay Brand is dedicated to offering an aesthetic that caters to women of all shapes and sizes. With sizes ranging from XS to 3X on some designs, The Slay Brand prides itself on inclusivity.

According to Tillman, the idea behind The Slay Brand is that customers will be able to shop the site and find the perfect outfit for a night on the town, or a fashion-forward athletic set so that you can slay your workouts as well! Offering payment plan services such as After pay, this boutique wants you to look like a masterpiece without having to break the bank to do so. In addition to the array of payment options, there’s always some sort of sale that’s usually advertised on the site. Subscribers to the Slay Brand’s mailing list and text messages also receive exclusive deals.

While strolling The Slay Brand’s social media feeds, don’t be surprised if you find your favorite starlet rocking the brand. Women supporting women is the goal, and many of your faves reach out to the company seeking to get their Slay on as well. With so many versatile pieces, the possibilities are endless when it comes to styling that perfect look. In all, the owner of The Slay Brand wants every woman to know that whether it’s a pair of leggings and a custom Slay Brand graphic tee, or an eye-catching dress, you should always own your slay! More than likely this isn’t the first time you’ve heard of the brand, and it surely won’t be the last. The owner plans to take the brand to the next level by including a men’s line (because let’s face it, the fellas like to be on point too!), and eventually opening storefronts to offer an even more convenient shopping experience for customers.

When asked if she had any advice for anyone looking to embark on their journey in the retail business, Tillman responded, “Just go for it! Don’t focus on the people that are already doing it. You are unique and that uniqueness will shine through. Dare to be different and think outside of the box. Find a niche and cater to a specific market. Lastly, please make sure to do your homework. With education and determination, you’ll be dressing the masses in no time.”

Wardah is an international author of a book, a Microbiologist by profession, and a blogger/influencer by passion besides being a SAHM. She loves to play all her roles on and off social media. She was born and bred in Pakistan and is based in UAE for the past 6 years. She is the founder of @thedoubleyoublog on Instagram and thedoubleyoublog.net on the web. In order to live the dreams of her life, she took a baby step towards success through her blog. Read her story through our questions to know more about her as a person and as a social media influencer.

Tell us about who you are and what you do.

I am Wardah S. Syed and I am a post-graduate in Microbiology. I am an international author of a book that was published in Germany and is available on Amazon. For the time being, am a blogger and influencer. I love to write and give my honest reviews on my pages.

Tell us how you created this page.

Being an ex-pat and living alone in an entirely new world and culture, you always look for different activities to get yourself engaged. I had been social my entire life. I love to connect with new people and understand their culture and past times. This led me to convey my private Instagram page into a public page. Initially, I started it just like that but later on, it became more like a passion for me when I started getting good responses to my posts from people. Currently, am working on my website blog and on my YouTube channel. I hope I get that Mark over there too. *fingers crossed*

Go in detail and tell us about how your page works. You may keep this from the audience’s perspective.

My page deals in lifestyle. I share my everyday life in my stories and on my page I like to keep it engaging with the audience. My posts are like a bridge between audience and brands sometimes. I cover lifestyle, beauty (which includes makeup and skincare), modest fashion, food, and parenting on my page. Lol so basically a jack of all trades and master of none applies here. I am a big foodie so I love to cook and eat already cooked food too.

Wardah S. Syed

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on page creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

I started the page with a passion for writing and connecting to people. In the very beginning of course nobody knows you, so you always end up asking all the people around to “please follow me on Instagram” lol those were the days, I tell you. To become eminent in any walk of life you need to have some good contacts and skills. Both these things help you reach your goals. Contacts don’t mean to get you to work on recommendations only. It also means to get you connected with different communities and people around you. So connecting with people while sitting all day at home was the biggest challenge for me. Being a mother of two boys I used to keep myself restricted at home only. As if I had totally forgotten the meaning of social interaction. So I started building that first which helped me grow in this field and helped me grow my page too.

How do you manage your finances through the services you offer. Any fundings etc received?

To be honest it’s the only work that you can do in the comfort of your home with your loved ones around and you do not need to invest anything at all. If going on the right path of content creation then it can also be fruitful to you on giving you a lot of output that you can imagine.

Tell us your future vision about the page. How far do you want to take it? What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

I have written another scientific book that too while doing my post-graduation. I really want to publish that book too. As far as my page is concerned, am really working hard to make it eminent and like every influencer, I too dream of working with good and big brands. Starting off my vlogging journey too which is really challenging with two toddlers but let’s see where my stamina takes me to. 🙂

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

I think consistency is the key. If you love to do something passionately and have the courage to do that at any cost then go ahead and never look back. Goals take time to be achieved but once done they make you feel out of the world and that pain and criticism that you have taken during the journey start looking worthy. Fight for your dreams and always dream big. They say dream for the moon at least you’ll get starts of not moon.

How do you take content creation in today’s time?

Starting a page was challenging and time-consuming in the sense to create different content every time. At times this whole phenomenon is enjoyable to the next level and in few instances it also becomes hectic. But nevertheless, it’s something that I love doing and creating. It has helped me to connect with a lot of like-minded people. Content creation has become more like a profession these days rather than just a past time. It’s high time parents and other people start taking it seriously too and not just a waste of time. Just for information, I am talking about quality content. #ifyoulnowyouknow

Samia Perveen is a 27-year-old accomplished Pakistani blogger based in UAE. She is the founder of @Influenster.Sam on Instagram with over 10K followers. She has successfully collaborated with leading food, clothing, and makeup brands in UAE. She has been successfully featured in leading websites and recognized on various social media platforms. She holds a passion for social media marketing and photography. Portrait photography attracts her most. This passion has finally opened its door to her with a great opportunity. She will be officially covering the most prestigious RAK Fine Arts Festival in UAE. She strongly believes in the philosophy of always following your heart. Though it took years for Samia to finally do something that makes her happy and enthusiastic. But it’s never too late she believes. She gives credit to her mother for her success. If it’s not for her, she wouldn’t be pursuing her passion. Her mother taught her the key lessons of life – BE HONEST, BE JUST, BE KIND AND BE LOYAL. She is indeed an inspiration for so many people.

Tell us about who you are and what you do.

My name is Samia Perveen. I am a 27-year-old Pakistani Blogger, born and raised in UAE. I live with my family. I completed my inter in 2012 and then did both full-time and part-time jobs as a receptionist cum marketing executive. I am an introvert. I have a passion for photography and social media marketing. I am trying to make my mark on the world.

Tell us how you created this brand and what was the sole idea behind it.

I have created my Instagram handle years back. It’s only after I lost my job in 2020 due to covid, I started focusing on my account. I started writing reviews for brands and to my surprise, in no time, I collaborated with several leading brands. I have recently collaborated with 20 well-known brands. I am currently working on it.

I also have a passion for photography and want to pursue a career in it. Luckily I have been invited to officially cover the RAK Fine Arts Festival, a great opportunity to experience and learn photography.

The idea behind creating my account was to do social media marketing for brands that I love doing and post anything that pleases my heart – The only place where I can speak and do without any dictation.

Go in detail and tell us about how your brand works. You may keep this from the audience’s perspective.

I promote the products and services by promoting a brand as a whole. I do social media marketing to build awareness about the respective brand and its products to generate sales. I create awareness about a product in the form of photos and videos. I write honest reviews after trying out the products.

What is your giveaway idea through this interview? Highlight something that may interest the readers on a one to one basis.

First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank CEO Medium for interviewing me and featuring me in their magazine. I am honored.

DONT LOSE HOPE. Be patient when it comes to achieving your goals. There are no shortcuts to the path of success. To reach the top, patience, hard work, dedication, and strong determination is required.

It took me years to reach the point where I am now and this is the only advice I would give to readers that HAVE FAITH, nothing is impossible.

I believe if we have strong faith in God, He is always there to unfold the heavens to us.

My readers can approach me on my Instagram – @Influenster.Sam for any tips or help. I would be glad to help people out there who are struggling in their respective fields and their personal lives.

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on brand creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

I am an introvert and an extremely sensitive person because of my tough childhood days. I do not open up easily. Speaking up itself is challenging for me. People have always ruthlessly criticized me for who I am but I have fought and successfully reached here. I have always been a victim of bullying and constant criticism which shattered my confidence. Building one, coming out of my comfort zone, doing blogging, meeting new people, interacting, etc all is very challenging for me. I have lots of fears and I am trying to overcome them. I belonged to a strict family which also contributed to who I was. But Alhamdulillah I have now immense support from my family, my mother, my sisters especially my twinnie Sumayya and of course my brother, who has always advised me TO BE YOURSELF no matter what. Despite being a low key person, my interests are opposite. My interest in marketing and I love doing photography both required constant interaction with new people now and then.

The most challenging thing is to make people realize that it’s not an easy job. Neither people nor brands understand the efforts that we put into a single post (review). There is a tough competition out there in this field. You have to work hard and make sure you present the quality content to the viewers and your reviews are distinctly different from others. It’s not just a copy-paste thing. I have to work late at night to create quality content.

The second most challenging thing in this field is you are judged based on your number of followers. When I am approached by brands for collaborations, I show them my work. But the next question I get from them is, how many followers do you have? As much as it’s important to influence the masses to help a business grow, the content should matter as much.

How do you manage your finances through the services you offer. Any fundings etc received?

Initially, I wasn’t being paid by brands to do marketing and I was also jobless. My family supported me despite the odds because of my passion. After lots of struggle and hard work, today I am being paid for all the services I offer.

Tell us your future vision about the brand. How far do you want to take it? What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

I want to create a positive impact on the masses through my platform. I want to be known for my work. There is no stop or end in this field. You just keep moving forward and forward. The sky is the limit.

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

Nothing can be achieved without any struggle. Whichever field you opt for or are passionate about, just know that it will be an extremely slow process and requires lots and lots of struggles. You will gradually grow. But only with hard work, patience, determination, being focused, no time limit, extreme dedication, you will achieve your goals. You don’t have to get disappointed if you don’t get the desired results soon. For this specific field, you need to have strong convincing power and you need to be completely aware of the public’s interests.

I would like to mention my best friend Sandeep, who showed immense support throughout my journey. She is not a namesake friend, she proved to be one. She worked for me both in front and behind the camera.

I would like to end this conversation with my mother’s advice to me

Shumaila Kamran, (nicknamed Mila) is a self-taught food and lifestyle influencer, residing in Jeddah, KSA. She runs an Instagram page by the name of Diet-a-might, where she not only shares her picture-perfect food styling expertise but also reviews and coverage on the most striking restaurants and cafés in the city. Not only has she got noticed by various big names of Jeddah such as Intercontinental, Grand Casablanca, and Twina, but also gained incredible success in her field.

“A major reason why I do what I do is to prove that we women are capable of more than we convince ourselves to be! -Shumaila”

Who am I?

My name is Shumaila (Mila), I’m mainly a food and lifestyle influencer. I specialize in creating different types of presentations, cuisines, cultures, and unprecedented innovations in the world of food. Currently, I’m doing restaurant & cafe reviews while highlighting the best parts of Jeddah’s beauty. Apart from this, I’m also a corporate event registration manager, I have years worth of knowledge and experience in the fields of business administration, E-commerce, computer science, health science, skincare, haircare, nutrition, photography, and design.

How I created this brand/my current mindset behind it:

I started this page eight years ago, solely because I wanted to learn and master the art of food styling and presentation. Now, fast forward today, I am working with some good organizations.

How my page works:

A few years ago my page was all about food styling but slowly as my work got noticed, I have dedicated it to exploring and reviewing the best parts of Jeddah and bringing forth the beauty of this remarkable city. I help people virtually explore along with me as I reveal the most extravagant features of the city; cafés, restaurants, beaches, shops, and what not!

The idea I want to highlight:

I wanted to take this opportunity to not only introduce myself in this space but to also share out here the idea that no one is born already having the skills and experience. Talent is not born, it’s created, and the process of creating it is NOT easy. Success doesn’t come knocking at your door overnight. It takes years of grinding and hard work to make it happen. I’m a true advocate of the belief that a woman should never stay idle, she should always have something going on in her day to day because life is too short to wait around for something to change, you gotta BE the change you want to see!

The challenges I went through creating my brand:

Before my page took off, people didn’t believe in my capabilities and dreams. They always thought that if I was successful in something, it’s only because of somebody else. Even in the beginning, perfection in food styling wasn’t easy to achieve. I would run back and forth in my kitchen, scraping together random pieces of paper, objects, or backgrounds that could work for my scene. A lot of things weren’t available to me at the time. I was constantly told to take my page down and to “Stop this madness”, but I kept going and here I am today, the people who doubted me, now stand with me and refuse to admit who they used to be. Yet now, People think I gained overnight success but I’m here to tell you that I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs, failure, slumps, criticism, and self-doubt in this process. Anyone who thinks they can just wake up one day and have all these wins without putting in the effort or that it’s easy and requires no mental energy has not yet seen what it takes to build such a community.

How I manage my finances:

Almost all of what I earn from this, I re-invest back into content creation. I’m a true believer in investing in areas that can help me grow both in my career as well as a person.

My vision:

My vision about my page is for it to become the go-to destination for people to explore Jeddah inside out in terms of both food and entertainment. I’m planning on working with even more famous organizations and brands whilst adding live reviews and collaborations so that I can dig deeper and people can engage more with my content.

My message to people reading this article:

In the end, I just want to say that it’s easy to assume that you can do it all or better than someone when you’re not actually in their shoes. It wasn’t easy building this landmark of my life. Everyone starts at zero and only the people who are willing to BE the change can make a difference!

Hina Adnan, one of the most loveable lifestyle influencers from Riyadh, a dentist by profession, funny and witty she owns a blog mommyonadventures which she calls her happy place.

Born and raised in an army family from Pakistan, she graduated from a reputable dental school in Karachi.

She also has an MBA degree, after getting married She moved to Riyadh, worked at a medical school as Vice-chairperson dental health care department, after having her baby she wanted to enjoy motherhood to its fullest so happily took a career break. And this was when mommyonadventures came into existence.

Hina loves to try new cuisines as She is a big-time foodie, traveling is also a passion for her, she loves to click pictures though according to her she is still learning. According to her

mommyonadventures is her happy place, where she connects with people and enjoys her me time.

When she started blogging she made some new friends who guided her and helped to learn a lot of new things.

In a short period, she feels she has achieved so much in her blogging journey. Her followers appreciate her reviews they love what she does and this is what makes her happy, Now after she is taking further steps in her blogging, and has started collaborating with some big companies and major brands in the middle east region.

She is just loving the whole experience.

Tell us about who you are and what you do.

Hina Adnan; a dentist by profession and a blogger by choice. After giving birth to my beautiful daughter in Riyadh, the only thing that I had in my mind was to keep my sanity alive regardless. Raising a kid and going to the hospital was no joke back then so I happily took a career break and decided to do something worthy (from home). One year later, here I am successfully (if I may say so) and happily using my space to share and talk about lifestyle, food, travel, motherhood, and much more! It’s not something very extraordinary but ordinary in a beautiful way.

Tell us how you created this brand and what was the sole idea behind it?

I’m always the happy-go-lucky kind of person! Always cheering others up and always finding a reason to call it a day! Blogging was never my ultimate goal – no kidding! I made a blog just by the way to remind myself that I’m doing something for myself at-least.

I have always believed that before a wife, mother, and daughter, there was a person in me too. An actual person. I did not want that person to be lost somewhere. Hence, I thought let’s use this platform to express what I genuinely feel. A place where I’m just a person with so much on my mind. I can finally be myself for as long as I want to be.

Go in detail and tell us about how your brand works. You may keep this from the audience’s perspective?

There is no competition for me and I am not in the rat race to be the best blogger and please everyone. As mentioned before, I try to be as genuine as possible, therefore, I just go with the flow. I don’t plan my blog. Every day, I have a different mood and so I let the vibe decide for me. My page is for everyone, there is a little bit of everything here for everyone. I have a lot of male followers too who enjoy my food reviews and travel experiences as well.

What is your giveaway idea through this interview? Highlight something that may interest the readers on a one to one basis.

Very old school but ‘live and let live!’ After so much going on around us during the past year, I just want everyone to celebrate small things in life. Count your blessings and be grateful for what you have in life. Travel, eat out, make memories with your loved ones, and call it a day! 🙂

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on brand creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

I have always underestimated myself in general which is not a very good thing of course! I had doubts before starting my blog because there were so many bloggers out there and it was a mad race about chasing followers and flaunting them. With time, I started understanding the world of blogging more and now I can say that I’m much confident than before still not 10/10 but I think it’s better than being overconfident.

How do you manage your finances through the services you offer. Any fundings etc received?

With partnerships and sponsorships, although it’s not as easy as it may sound or look. Devotion and hard work is the only key to success.

Tell us your future vision about the brand. How far do you want to take it? What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

Let’s not spill all the beans at once! 😉 But one thing for sure: it was always genuine and worthy enough!

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

Patience and patience my friend! And then comes, time and energy. You should use your own space if you’re passionate enough and loves to talk!

Amber Page is a 21-year-old lifestyle blogger who runs a blog in her free time called The Unpredicted Page. She talks about life advice and healthy living tips. When she is not blogging she is studying for her Accounting degree.

Tell us about who you are and what you do.

I am a 21-year-old student studying Accounting full-time at University. On the side, I run a blog called The Unpredicted page where I talk about life advice, healthy living, and occasionally some blogging tips. I have always loved writing and having people read my work so blogging was an ideal hobby for me that I eventually managed to get monetized.

Tell us how you created this blog and what was the sole idea behind it.

I like to help people with issues that I have stumbled across myself. I am currently writing a series around Instagram and how to grow an account on there that you can start monetizing. I have had about 8 paid collabs on Instagram and I know other people would like my tips on how I made that happen. I also managed to grow my account to 5k followers in 5 months. I started my blog in lockdown in April 2020 when I had nothing to do and I was googling ways to make money on the side and blogging came up! I had never really considered being a blogger before that but the idea stuck with me and I couldn’t let it go so I decided to try it.

Go in detail and tell us about how your blog works. You may keep this from the audience’s perspective.

I write advice and tips based on everyday life struggles, traveling, baking tips, money hacks, healthy living advice and so much more. I try and make sure there is something that can help everyone on my blog so I can attract a bigger audience.

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on blog creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

Having enough time is a massive challenge. A blog takes a lot of work and time as well as running an Instagram on the side. You have to write, take pictures, create a schedule, promote, engage with your audience and so many more things! Of course, as my university works get harder I will have to focus on that more and my blog might have to take a step back. However, I refuse to give it up completely. It is something that I love doing and I have worked hard on growing it so I do not plan for all of that hard work to go to waste. So having time to get everything done to the right standard is something that I struggle with.

How do you manage your finances through the services you offer. Any fundings etc received?

I have put all of my own money into my blog and already I have made back the money I spent since monetizing my blog.

Tell us your future vision about the blog. How far do you want to take it? What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

I would love to be a full-time blogger. I want to work for myself and work on my own time schedule. There is no limit to the amount of money you can make and I have seen amazing blogger success stories that constantly motivate me to stick at it. I would love for my blog traffic to grow and more people see my writing.

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

You cannot manifesto something without putting the work into it. You will have to invest in yourself if you want to get anywhere. Investing is the hardest step and you are worried if you will be able to make it all back but honestly, it is so worth it.
