Both career and parental burnout are something I know about. Believing asking for any help in any area of my life to be utter failure, I tried to conquer the world alone. This act of ‘heroisim’ , my ideal of doing it all to prove I was competent at home and in work, resulted in mental and physical exhaustion, chronic insomnia, and depression.

I’m not the only one, obviously. Deloitte study shows that 77 percent of respondents say they have experienced employee burnout at their current job, with more than half citing more than one occurrence. The survey also uncovered that employers may be missing the mark when it comes to developing well-being programs that their employees find valuable to address stress in the workplace’.[1] Even the most successful CEO in the world has a lot of support, or they should because we need to work together to look after wellbeing in the home.

As parents and carers, we are particularly vulnerable to burnout owning to the 360 demands on our mental, physical, emotional, and practical resources. Parental Burnout is an emerging field of study but the evidence of this impact on family life is worrying according to the article published in the National Library of Medicine.

If you or someone you love is suffering burnout in any area, or verging on it, here are some tips:

Fall in love with the word ‘no’. You can say no, you do not have to do it all.

Delegate as much as possible. In the workplace who can you share the load with? At home can the children help? Can you shuffle around the finances and outsource any jobs?

Boundaries are your friend. Identify what your non-negotiables are, articulate them to those they concern, articulate the consequence (make it something reasonable and possible). If this boundary is crossed and carry out that consequence.

Boundaries can be flexible. It might seem paradoxical from the previous points but sometimes you can negotiate a real point of stress within the workplace or home is rigid boundaries that make no sense or have no context. So ask yourself what is non-negotiable? What is flexible?

Ask for help! There is no shame in the struggle, whatever the situation we cannot do anything if we’re burned out, so who can you look to for support?

Sleep is VERY important, so ask yourself how can you get more? Is it quality sleep? How is your sleep hygiene?

Support energy and health with nutritional foods exercise, and making time for your hobbies.

Put your own oxygen mask on first, self-care is resilience work if you have a pivotal role as a caregiver in the family, in your job, or lots of responsibility in a business. If you are not well looked after then no one will be, so put yourself in the driving seat of your own wellbeing.

Burnout can be characterised by feelings of helplessness, extreme fatigue, disillusioned and lack of focus, a great guide for signs to look out for can be found here

Kevin Marshall is an author, attorney, and hope coach in Atlanta, Georgia. As a practicing attorney, Kevin has argued at the Supreme Court of Georgia. Further, Kevin is recognized as “Top 40 Under 40” by both the National Trial Lawyers Association and the National Black Lawyers. Kevin self-published his first book, “Hella Hopeful: 31 Daily Affirmations to Find Hope” in May 2020.

Tell us about who you are and what you do.

I am Kevin Marshall. I am an author, attorney, and hope coach. My first book, “Hella Hopeful: 31 Daily Affirmations to Find Hope” is available now. The book is a thirty-one-day guide to finding hope in all aspects of your life. Each affirmation in my book contains practical assurances that promote a life of positive thinking, peace, and abundance.

Tell us how you created this brand and what was the sole idea behind it.

In early March of 2020, I was diagnosed with COVID-19. It was a terrifying experience because back then, the virus was so new. At that time, not many people had been diagnosed in Atlanta. My doctor called me to reveal the news. I asked if she had any advice on what I could do to recover from the virus. She told me to “stay hydrated.” I knew that she couldn’t give me much advice, but those words were enough. I knew that hope would hydrate me. I knew it would take hope to recover. A couple of days later, I got the revelation to package the affirmations that I had written to myself. I felt like God was telling me to use them to create a book. I didn’t want to do it. I was angry, scared, and focused on my healing and recovery. That’s when God showed me that “hope has hands.” Even when you don’t have much of it yourself, you can still give it, gift it. So, in May 2020, I published my first book, “Hella Hopeful: 31 Daily Affirmations to Find Hope.” The book helped save my life.

Go in detail and tell us about how your brand works.

My brand, “Kevin Has Hope,” launched in 2020. It started with my book, Hella Hopeful, but it’s grown tremendously since then. We now have merchandise with my emblem, the yellow heart. The yellow heart represents hope. I have also created a course for aspiring authors. The “60-Day Author: Online Crash Course” teaches aspiring authors how to start the writing process with practical steps, gives tips on writing a book quickly and efficiently, and teaches them how to self-publish. I teach everything that I know. I also provide one-on-one coaching for aspiring authors. The course, my book, and merchandise are available on my website. If you’re interested in one-on-one coaching, you can contact me via email.

What is your giveaway idea through this interview? Highlight something that may interest the readers on a one to one basis.

I want people to remember that the pandemic birthed so many opportunities. It’s up to us to decide how we let the pandemic affect us. We have to shift our thinking and look for positives, for opportunities. I would not be an author but for the pandemic. The pandemic forced me into isolation, which resulted in a beautiful book. The pandemic changed my life for the better.

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on brand creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

Life is a challenge, one that is both scary and exciting. I learned so much through my journey to becoming an author. Writing a book is hard work. You have moments of exhaustion, frustration, and self-doubt. In those moments, you have to remember your message. You have to remember what you want to convey to the world and why you need to get it out on paper. Being an author takes indescribable patience, dedication, and discipline. It’s tough, but worth it in the end.

How do you manage your finances through the services you offer. Any fundings etc received?

I chose to self-publish my first book. I wanted to learn the process and have complete control of the finished product. I teach people how to self-publish in my “60-Day Author: Online Crash Course.”

Tell us your future vision about the brand. How far do you want to take it? What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

I’m currently praying about the next steps. My goal is to spread hope all over the world. I won’t stop until I’ve done that.

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

Embrace everything that makes you different. Your power isn’t in your similarities with others – it’s in your differences.

Jaime Bronstein is a relationship therapist, coach, and host of “Love Talk Live” on LA Talk Radio. She was named the “#1 Relationship Coach Transforming Lives in 2020” by Yahoo Finance. For the past 20 years, Jaime has been teaching her clients how to heal their past, love themselves unconditionally, how to be vulnerable, tap into their inner strengths and intuition, and live more authentically to achieve their relationship goals. Jaime is highly sought-after to share her relationship advice on various media outlets such as KTLA, ABC, NBC and CBS News, PEOPLE, Thrive Global, and Bustle. Jaime empowers her clients to become aware of the fact that they were born to have love in their lives – not just any love –the right love for them. Jaime has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University, a master’s degree in social work from New York University, and a certificate in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. Jaime’s book on manifesting love is currently in the works.
Tell us about who you are and what you do.

My name is Jaime Bronstein. I live in Los Angeles with my husband and our five-year-old little boy. I am originally from Chicago. I am a relationship therapist and coach, and I’m the host of “Love Talk Live” on LA Talk Radio. My work in private practice consists of helping to enable the transformation of my client’s lives. I help singles, couples, and people going through breakups and divorces navigate through their journeys.

My job is to support, reflect, help facilitate revelations about themselves and their lives.

I help my clients to get clear on who they are and what they want in their relationship and life, and most importantly, what is holding them back from achieving their goals.

Also, I help my clients develop their intuition because I believe that being connected to our intuition is the key to life. The more connected we are with ourselves, the more we can connect with others and with life. The more connected we are, the more abundance will come in, and everything that is supposed to happen can happen in our lives when we are entirely in-tune with ourselves!

Tell us how you created this brand and what was the sole idea behind it.

I always say that I popped into this world, destined to work in the world of “love” because my name in French means “I love” (if it’s spelled “J’aime”). For as long as I can remember, I have always loved everything about love. Since I know how life-changing love is, it became my mission to inspire people to do everything they can to be in fulfilling, deeply connected, purpose-filled and meaningful, heart and soul-connected loving relationships, and to know that everyone deserves love and is capable of having love in their lives. My love and fascination for psychology started in my first psychology class in high school. I couldn’t get enough about learning how and why people operate the way they do, so essentially, I never stopped studying and learning everything I can about human emotions and behavior from that day forward. I think it’s beautiful how we are all so unique- I help my clients embrace that fact.

Go in detail and tell us about how your brand works. You may keep this from the audience’s perspective.

I work in private practice, and Zoom/video conferencing sessions. Having the ability to do Zoom sessions allows me to work with clients all over the world. I work with clients all around the U.S. and Canada, and I have had clients in other countries like England and Australia!

Anyone struggling in the dating world who wants to manifest love or is having issues in their relationships or going through a breakup or divorce can contact me via email or a phone call. All of my contact information is on my website, www.therelationshipexpert.com

What is your giveaway idea through this interview?

I offer 30-minute complimentary Zoom mini-sessions for anyone who has questions and wants to do a consultation before officially starting.

Also, people can email me at jaimetherelationshipexpert@gmail.com to book a session or request my audio recordings of the “Steps to Manifesting Love.”

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on brand creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

There are so many relationship therapists and coaches out there, so my challenge was: how can I show that I am unique in my field and that what I offer contains a life-changing value for my clients.

The fact that I’m intuitive makes me stand out in the world of psychotherapy and relationship coaching. Looking beyond the words that my clients say and getting to the heart of the issue with my added intuitive senses that I receive helps me help my clients on a deeper level.

My psychotherapy, social work, and spirituality training are all woven together into my work, so my clients get the best of all the worlds I have to offer. I believe this sets me apart from other therapists and coaches.

Being named the “#1 Relationship Coach Transforming Lives in 2020” by Yahoo Finance has felt amazing. Knowing that all of my hard work, which I call “heart” work, has paid off. When you do things in life that bring you joy, it’s so much more rewarding, so to be acknowledged for something that brings me joy makes it even better. I am very grateful.

Tell us your future vision about the brand. How far do you want to take it? What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

I have many “sacred yes’s” I would like to manifest, and some of them are already in the works. I am currently working on my book about manifesting love… stay tuned for a publication date- it’s very exciting! I am also working on a documentary film that will inspire people worldwide to know that authentic, romantic, soul-connected love exists. My purpose for the film is to show people that they don’t need to settle, and that great love is out there for them, and most importantly, they were born to deserve that true love that is their destiny.

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

Follow your heart. If an idea comes to you, and it makes you feel alive, you need to follow that passion and turn it into the creation of your dreams. Ideas are unique to us, so it is our job to manifest them because we are the only ones who can transform our dreams from an idea into reality. Don’t play small in life; shine your light because it’s beautiful, and the world needs to see it.

Kaden James is a certified life coach who helps clients in 8 key areas of life, from CEOs to students just finding their footing in the world. He is there to guide his clients toward greater clarity so they can navigate through life’s challenges and into greater peace and joy.

Hi Kaden, we are happy to have you with us.

I am excited to talk with you about these topics that I am so passionate about.

Tell us a little about your approach to coaching.

I created Spirlit coaching to help people connect deeply with themselves, their essence, and to uncover what they truly want. So many of our goals and desires don’t even come from us, they are beliefs about where we “should be”, what we “should have” or what we “should do”. We get these should from our families, society, commercials, friends. I am here to help you loose the shoulds. After they are gone you then have the ability to embrace this moment, be at peace with what is and then from this nurturing space, you can start creating the life you really want.

What is the goal of a coach and client relationship?

For myself, it’s to get the client into their heart space and then align the mind in service to the heart. When we reach this inner alignment, we become very powerful.

What happens for people who don’t?

If we just serve the mind, like many people on the planet, we can become very destructive to ourselves in the form of stress, fear, poor decisions, and dis-ease this is where we experience the most pain. Those who continue on a destructive path and close their hearts, only serving the mind or ego have the ability to inflict great harm on the world.

That sounds terrible.

It really can be, that’s why it is so important that we look out for one another and help each other.

What made you want to help people in this way?

I understand how it feels to feel deeply alone, to be scared things aren’t going to change, to feel completely stuck in the world. I struggled a lot growing up. I never really felt completely understood. I was bullied a lot for my caring and kind nature. I felt pressure from my family to “toughen up”. I used to yell my lungs out in a pillow before school to not sound so soft-spoken.

How bad did it get? If you don’t mind sharing.

I don’t mind at all. I see everything I went through as a source of my strength. These hardships in our stories can become moments of resilience and power if we allow them too. Growing up in a small town in Idaho, well let’s just say it was rough. I was bullied, I got called “fag” a lot, I found death threats in my locker, my books would be hit out of my hands waling through the halls, I was beaten up and on one occasion I was chased with a pickup through a park I was terrified. I was scared for my life.

The constant bullying really got to me and I had very low self-esteem. I hated myself. I worried the abuse would never end. One day in high school my name with the words “is gay” was graffitied on the driveway to the school. So everyone pulling in saw it. I took the bus so I didn’t see it and was told that morning. I was devastated and allowed to leave school. I remember walking past it so sad and then having to walk for miles home.

I was so depressed and sad for many years until I learned how to love and accept myself. Then everything changed and I have seen the same thing happen for so many other people I have helped. Living authentically and not letting anyone dim your light has been the key to my success.

What is your entrepreneurial story? How did you come about building your business?

Well, I have always had the entrepreneurial spirit, as a kid I would get those catalogs in school to sell things to raise money for choir and I would always be the top salesperson hitting every house I could before dark. I would have to deliver the items over several days in my red wagon. I won some cool prizes for a kid, including a nice stereo system.

When it comes to coaching, I got very interested in personal development after helping a friend who had gone through some challenges. He suggested I look into coaching. I signed up for a course the very night he suggested I learn about it and fell in love with the field. At the time I was struggling financially. So I would just read every personal development book I could get my hands on. I took more online courses and that led to seminars, learning the tools to generate more money, and finally, I was able to work with my own coach.

You are an author as well what kinds of books have you written?

I have written a few books and I am also looking to find a publisher for my latest work which is an Adventure/ Sci-Fi that also has a lot of deep meaning and messages about life within it.

My published work includes The Daily Playbook which is a ninety-day course to transform your life. I studied the morning and evening rituals of highly successful people for well over a year and noticed correlations between what they were doing and started applying and testing their methods. I found that many of the techniques worked like magic and really helped me get on track to where I am today. As I found methods that were helping me reach my goals and experience greater peace I wanted to share them and that is how this book was born.

My most recent book that just came out is called Reflekt and it is a collection of poems and thoughts from time spent in a mindful and meditative state. Both of these books are available on Amazon and if you get a copy please feel free to send a pic of you with the book and I will repost it.

What is your business model — how were you able to grow so fast?

I have always looked at what I do as serving others. It has always been about the mission of helping people live more full and meaningful lives. Everything I do branches out from that core desire. I believe that because the intention is pure people can feel it. Spirlit has always been about people helping people. Every coach we work with has known pain, they have struggled in their lives and it drives us to help others ease their suffering and experience more joy.

What have you learned through your experiences as an entrepreneur that can be used by aspiring business individuals?

Always be honest. Ask for what you want. Listen, not only to others but to your heart and intuition. Give, give, give and more will be given to you. Trust yourself.

What makes your business so unique and successful?

Spirlit is unique because we have coaches that specialize in several areas of coaching from relationships, to wealth, career and business growth, major life transitions, fitness and nutrition, self-love and confidence, spirituality, family and the list goes on and on. What makes us truly successful is that we actually help clients achieve measurable and real results, this creates repeat clients and referrals.

What have you learned through your journey as an entrepreneur?

I have learned that anything is possible when you align with your soul goals, do your research, get mentors (AKA coaches), show up, center yourself, and lead with your heart.

What skills and attributes make you as successful as you are?

I think that is okay with being me, it took me years to embrace my voice, my mannerisms, my body, my sexuality but now that I have lived has become beautiful. That’s what happens when we learn to be grateful and to reprogram our minds to see the good. For me, success is measured by happiness and I am happy.

Why is online business, marketing, etc important?

I think it’s important to have people know how to find you and understand what your company does and how they can solve a problem just by looking at a piece of marketing. There is real beauty in simplicity. I will be honest though, spending money advertising on various platforms hasn’t yielded the returns that talking about our services in interviews like this and in video content has. This may be because what we do is not something people respond to from a commercial or a visual ad. We are still exploring other forms of advertising and are open to working with other experts in the space. We are growing as a business and as individuals. It’s beautiful to celebrate our growth with our community of clients and coaches. It’s deeply rewarding work.
