The skills shortage is a major challenge for UK businesses, as it lowers productivity and profits.

The British economy is still struggling to recover from the pandemic, according to the latest data. The economy is 0.5% smaller than it was before the pandemic, and experts say that the main reasons for this are the lingering effects of the pandemic and the tighter post-Brexit immigration rules.

The ongoing skills shortage is a major challenge for businesses, but it is also an opportunity for those who are proactive. Here are our top tips for businesses facing labor challenges in 2023.

UK industries with skills shortages

To begin, it is important to identify the industries in the UK that are most affected by the skills shortage. A recent study found that the country’s biggest shortfalls are in a variety of sectors, including:

Transport and logistics: This sector is facing a shortage of skilled drivers, warehouse workers, and customs agents.

Hospitality: This sector is facing a shortage of skilled chefs, waiters, and hotel staff.

Manufacturing and construction: These sectors are facing a shortage of skilled engineers, carpenters, and electricians.

Invest in your workforce for long-term success

Recruiting top talent is a time-sensitive process, as there is only a limited pool of qualified candidates available. A recruitment agency can help you find the right people quickly and efficiently.

Recruitment agencies have wider referral networks as a third party, allowing them to identify candidates with the necessary work experience. They also focus on different industries, so you can locate an agency that meets your specific requirements.

Recruitment agencies can help you find new talent with the core skills to help your company reach its goals.

Invest in your workforce to boost your business
Often, the skills you need are already present in your workforce, but they may not be fully utilized. By upskilling your employees, you can give them the skills they need to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Upskilling your workforce can be a great way to improve your business and the skills of your employees. By following these tips, you can make the upskilling process a success.

Organizations with more resources may even pay for their employees to enroll in external training programs offered by universities or colleges. This personalized investment in your workforce can build loyalty and even provide a valuable public relations opportunity.

Utilise Apprenticeship to train and upskill your workforce
Apprenticeships can be a long-term solution to skills shortages. They can help employers reach a wider talent pool and offer prospective employees a strong, high-quality alternative to the traditional university degree.

A multi-pronged approach to recruitment that includes building relationships with educational institutions can help businesses find top talent at the source.

Boost your marketing reach and visibility
A strong marketing strategy can make your company more attractive to prospective employees. This is because it can help to increase brand awareness and generate interest in your company. You can partner with local educational institutions, promote your job openings on social media and in the local press, and track your results to improve your marketing strategy and attract future employees.

Bradley (Brad) Fauteux is an executive who has demonstrated a consistent commitment to environmentalism throughout his entire career. He has held multiple positions, such as Managing Director of Ontario Parks and the Ministry of Natural Resources. During his time with Ontario Parks, Fauteux was responsible for overseeing a large team of 2,500 employees and managing a substantial operating budget of $90 million, in addition to a capital portfolio valued at $1.5 billion. Currently, he serves as the Senior Director of P3 Management at EQUANS, a company that specializes in providing solutions and services to meet the energy, multi-technical, and digital needs of industries, cities, and buildings, with a particular focus on improving energy efficiency and performance. This current position aligns directly with Fauteux’s long-standing dedication to environmental matters.

Fauteux firmly believes in the responsibility of leaders to contribute to the preservation of our world. In his words, “I believe that everyone in a leadership position has the responsibility to ensure we are protecting nature and acting sustainably. Without it, little of what we do or achieve holds significance or meaning. After all, we have to ensure that we have a place where others following in our footsteps have the opportunity to achieve their own goals.”

Fauteux’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree earned in 1995 from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada. He also pursued further education, completing a Management Certificate from the American Management Association of International in 1999 as well as an Indigenous Studies Certificate from the University of Alberta in 2017.

In this capacity as Senior Director of P3 at EQUANS Services, he’s responsible for managing the strategic delivery operations of multiple P3 contracts in both Canada and the United States. His areas of oversight encompass transit, healthcare, transportation, and cultural infrastructure.

What does your day-to-day generally look like given your position?

Contract, Vendor, and Client Management are the activities that take up most of my day. Making sure we are delivering on our commitments and serving our clients in the best, most sustainable way we can.

What initially inspired you to get into the field you’re in?

Leadership has always been the thing that I’ve gravitated to normally and environmentalism and sustainability are things that mean a lot to me personally. So being able to lead and contribute in those important areas has been great.

What do you think makes a great leader?

I generally subscribe to servant leadership so listening is where everything starts. As a generalist, I believe strongly in putting the right people in the right places and then making sure you can support success, help them grow, and clear barriers for them. I also believe strongly that what gets measured, gets done so I am a big proponent of having accountability systems in place to track success.

What is the biggest misconception about your industry?

The biggest misconception is that environmentalism and sustainability are only for environmentalists and that simply is not true. Everything we build, operate, occupy, use, etc. can be better more sustainable, and less harmful to the environment around us. Keeping this in mind, ALL of us are responsible for this, not just the environmentalists.

What do you believe your future career is going to look like five years from now?

I imagine that I will be leading sustainably in whatever industry needs me.

Kah Qi is an entrepreneur and online fitness coach who aims to help busy people achieve their fitness goals without starvation diets or spending hours of cardio.

He knows that many people struggle to achieve their fitness goals, be it muscle-building or fat loss, because of the lack of time, lack of knowledge, or lack of discipline. With everyone leading such busy lives today, it is so difficult to block out time for exercise, let alone think about the right food to eat. Furthermore, with the internet at the tip of our fingers today, misinformation, trends, and fads are all over, which makes it increasingly hard to find reliable information. This is fuelled by marking tactics from advertisements and social media that prey on desperate, lazy people who want shortcuts to success.

And therefore, he hopes to solve these problems by focusing on evidence-based methods and sustainable habits to change your lifestyle. With evidence-based methods, people can be assured that these are not just myths or fake news but legitimate approaches that have been proven to work. Also, sustainable habits will solve the problem of the lack of discipline and lack of time as he strives to make training and nutrition second nature so that people do not need to rely on sheer motivation.

This is done through online coaching, where interested clients will be taken through a thorough interview to get to know their general profile, lifestyle, medical history, past workout experience, goals, and nutrition. A progressive and personalized workout and nutrition plan will then be given to the clients which will incorporate all the above factors, and constant monitoring and optimization will be done to ensure that the client reaches their goals.

While creating the brand name for himself, there were many challenges faced, and the main one is creating a niche. With the low barrier to entry for online fitness coaches, it was important to be differentiated from the rest. Content creation can also be time-consuming, especially trying to find good research to debunk some of the top fitness myths and educate his followers.

He aspires to change lifestyles one busy person at a time, to achieve their fitness goals sustainably. He also aims to use social media to reach out to as many people as possible to debunk fitness myths, by producing free, bite-sized content.

For anyone trying to start a business, be prepared to put in a ton of hard work. Remember the bigger vision behind why you want to do it and that will keep you going.

Raise your hand if you LOVE sales!!!

Anybody?

Anyone?

I know there are a few of you out there — but if you didn’t immediately put up your imaginary hand, you’re not alone. I love sales now — but I didn’t always.

When I started my coaching business, I was focused entirely on working with retreat leaders. It was the perfect way to use both my mastery as a math educator and my passion for spiritual transformation.

I worked with brilliant healers, coaches, and spiritual teachers helping them plan and execute transformational retreats that had a huge impact on their participants.

What I discovered through the process was a startling trend in my clients: they lacked experience, resilience, and mastery around sales. My clients wanted the people to just show up — as if by magic. They also had major blocks around doing the math and charging what they were worth — and the combo of these blind spots with their resistance to sales meant that they consistently struggled to fill their programs and retreats or make enough money to sustain their businesses.

Not having full programs led to them doubting their purpose and themselves. It ate away at their confidence and self-esteem and intensified their feelings of imposter syndrome.

And it honestly didn’t matter how good their curriculum was, or how beautiful the retreat center if they didn’t fill the room.

So, I started teaching sales in a way that truly resonated for my clients. And demanding that my clients master sales. Which meant a daily routine.

I taught my clients how to approach sales as a spiritual practice — a service to others, an expression of their spiritual leadership, and a self-development tool.

Here are the three main pillars of this teaching:

1. Sales is a Service

Sales are about helping another person make a clear decision about what they want to experience in their lives. This is radical and powerful because most people are used to tolerating a lack of clarity and messy decision making (or total indecision) in most areas of their lives.

Your job as a salesperson is not to get someone to buy what you’re selling: it’s to help them make a clear decision about what’s next for them. If part of what’s next for them aligns to your product or service, great! Then it’s your job to sell that to them.

That’s service.

Let me say it again: your job is to help people find clarity — not buy your product.

When you change your mindset to approach a sale as service, you automatically make the sale about what will serve the other person. You also understand that if hiring you or buying your product does not directly serve the other person’s vision then there’s no need for a sale. It’s your job to celebrate their clarity and release them with love.

The next time you’re entering into a sales conversation, ask yourself, “What would need to happen to allow this sales conversation to deeply serve the other person?”

Then do it that way.

2. Sales is Saying “Yes” to Change

Anytime you make a clear decision to purchase any product or service, you are doing so because you want something to change.

Let’s look at some examples:

When you buy dinner, you want to feel nourished.

When you buy a TV, you want to be entertained.

When you buy a session with a spiritual teacher, you want to go deeper, experience less suffering, claim more freedom, know the truth, etc.

When you buy a book on marketing, you want to learn something new that you can apply to your life and business.

When you buy a six-figure coaching program, you want to completely transform your relationship with your partner, business, money, self, etc.

These examples have a range of intensity and scale, but the heart of each purchase is about saying “yes” to some type of change in your life. Whether big or small, internal or external, short term or long term, spiritual or material — sales is about change.

When you have that clarity in mind, you can easily see who truly wants change and who doesn’t.

If your potential client or customer wants the change your product or service makes possible, it is your job to help them create that change by buying what you’re selling.

3. Sales is a Spiritual Practice

As we’ve discussed, the sale is an offering to a potential client or customer. The sale is also the practice for you to become a more powerful leader, teacher, healer, guide, or coach. Why? Because each moment of a sales conversation demands that you stay in service — and all the moments you’re distracted, resistant, judgmental, codependent, or emotional show you the next place you have to grow and give you the opportunity to release it.

In my experience working with spiritual entrepreneurs, sales isn’t the best spiritual practice — but it’s the “next” one, the next meditation, the next growth opportunity. Sales takes us deeper by holding up a mirror to our egos, our co-dependencies, and our emotional dysfunction. Sounds fun, right? LOL. It is truly uncomfortable to look at this stuff — AND it’s one of the fastest and most effective tools for getting free.

When I first started sales, I was constantly thinking about myself. I thought, “Will the person say ‘yes’ or ‘no’? Am I doing this right? Am I going to get a ‘yes’?” I was constantly spinning out and believing that the content of my thoughts needed my attention. It did not.

The only thing that truly needed my attention was the person in front of me. And what I learned to do — and do well — was wake up when I was not being attentive to the person in front of me, and pivot my attention back to them instantaneously.

Hence, spiritual practice.

Doing sales requires stepping into your most generous, unapologetic, conscious, and mindful self — the perfect spiritual practice.

After receiving a late diagnosis of Asperger’s and experiencing what can only be described as life-shattering trauma at the age of just 20, Daniel spent the next seven years struggling to keep these revelations and events from spilling into every area of his life. As a result of his struggles, Daniel built a simple, four-step system called the Beyond Intention Paradigm.

Initially built as a lifeline grappling with suicidal thoughts, Beyond Intention was born, transforming Daniel’s life from misery to celebration. Through his own struggles, Daniel found a path to lasting joy and purpose and he wants nothing more than to share the tools that saved his life. To that end, he lives by this mission statement:

“Spearhead an evolutionary uplift in universal consciousness by awakening people to the importance of their unique role. This is already encoded in them by way of a deep and often ignored or undervalued passion defined as their Dream.”

Through motivational speech, Daniel shares his vision of empowerment and joy, as well as via books he has authored, his “Do it With Dan” podcast series (which is available on all major platforms), frequent blogging, articles, and a series of worldwide workshops. Daniel also offers coaching and consultations in groups and in one-on-one sessions. Each of these sessions honors his mission and helps his clients find meaning and joy in their lives.

Daniel is also a voracious reader, publicly documenting his challenge to read a book every week. He loves to travel, write and perform as a singer-songwriter, and practice Kundalini yoga, meditation, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He is also an outspoken promoter of entrepreneurial philanthropy, as well as an ambassador for the Mangena Foundation (in addition to working with several charities across the globe).

To contact Daniel, go to www.dreamwithdan.com. He can also be found on most major social media platforms with the handle @dreamerCEO.

Tell us about who you are and what you do.

I am an author, speaker, and coach that supports people in creating real-world abundance. Here is a great article that speaks about what I do

https://medium.com/@cantormel/daniel-mangena-wants-to-remove-the-woo-woo-around-the-law-of-attraction-and-bring-it-to-the-61d7af9cd99f

Tell us how you created this brand and what was the sole idea behind it.

The sole idea was to break the cycle of people being sold a lie about what manifestation is, how it works, and the true power of what can be created with it.

Go in detail and tell us about how your brand works.

I work with people in groups, via my programs (my signature is money manifesting program called Micro2Millions) and a limited number of private coaching clients. I teach people the principle of “Alignment” which honors that we are more than just a 1-dimensional creature, but have a number of aspects of ourselves to include in the process of creating any outcome we desire.

What is your giveaway idea through this interview? Highlight something that may interest the readers on a one to one basis.

That we can be harmonious money magnets — we can have an aligned flow to having more money in our lives, and it doesn’t have to cost us peace of mind, family, time, an excess of energy. It can be balanced and it can be joyful.

Explain the challenges you went through while you were working on brand creation. What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

I can from nothing. Zilch. Zero. In fact, I was working a job from 1 pm till 9 pm as I built up the business that I took to 6 figures per month.

Tell us your future vision about the brand. How far do you want to take it? What is your dream about taking it to the next level?

I want to create a new narrative around manifesting and empower people to have a new norm around deliberately creating all aspects of their lives.

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

Understand that it starts with a clear intention, but an intention means nothing if it is not supported by a clear idea of how you will feel when it is done or a belief that it is even possible.

If you do not share your experiences, no one will know that they happened. Obviously, right? As people, we have an innate desire for our stories to be known, for us to be known, to feel seen, heard, and understood. But the value of your journey goes beyond your own individual need for connection. Ask yourself, who could possibly benefit from learning my experience, and why? And, please, put the feelings of being unworthy, unimportant, or not enough aside for a moment. Almost all of us experience those nagging self-doubts and even deep fears that no one would really care if we did share anyway. But let’s assume someone does care: how could your lived experience help them? Because the reality is that someone out there is waiting desperately to hear your story so that they can now feel seen, heard, known, and understood.

Ever watch a movie and see yourself as the character you enjoyed so much? You relate to them and what they need to overcome, regardless of your differences. Through the story, you feel that remarkable human connection, and you see yourself in them or as them. OR you see something in them that you aspire to be, a quality or success or result that inspires you. It happens to all of us.

That’s part of the magic of a story, particularly when displayed across a screen. You can walk out of a superhero movie feeling like you just saved the world, or an action flick believing you can get aboard an airplane while it is taking off on the runway (don’t try this, you probably can’t).

Storytelling elicits emotion, connection, and resonance. And sharing it through video allows your audience to experience your voice; your expression, passion, words, and energy. And that is what creates trust.

So, the same idea holds true in the context of using video in your business. Video allows your potential clients to get to know you, like you, and trust you faster than any other medium in the current digital world.

You’ve most likely had great obstacles to overcome in your life, challenges that felt insurmountable as you lived them, but you made it through. You grew through them, learned from them, and were influenced by them. These are your stories that have helped shape who you are, what has influenced your entrepreneurial creation, your business service, brand, product, or message.

There is only one you and someone is waiting to hear what you have to say. They want to hear your message on what inspired your business, that created the version of who you are today, in the way that only you can. This is how you stand out online.

Even if you’re talking about a similar subject matter as someone else or thousands of other people, your unique heart, passion, and stories set you apart because of your journey. And you must tell it, or they will never know.

When Larionne Mariah visualized her future, it didn’t match her reality. She had goals and values that meant something, but she needed to find a solution. As a single mom and entrepreneur, she wanted to spend more time with her daughter and create a balance between time at home while building a career that supported her family.

Driven to create a better life, one that meant flexibility to be with her daughter more, she built Larionne Mariah, a company dedicated to helping small and medium businesses expand their reach and visibility through digital means such as social media, web production, and more.

Prior to starting her business, she worked in marketing, and didn’t agree with how things were being done. It was frustrating to be in an environment that put a limit on her worth and left her drained at the end of the day due to improper management. Clients weren’t happy, and the boss made excuses like blaming his staff. She knew she could do better. She had to. Her daughter was counting on her.

Today, Larionne Mariah owns a social media management firm, which works with small to medium sized businesses. Her happy clients are thrilled she opened the doors to her own brand, along the results she gets them and top-notch customer service she provides. It’s a win-win situation for the businesses she works with.

She’s driven to get her clients results, real results, so they can accelerate their business growth while letting go of time-draining tasks that take them away from other work they could be doing. Social media management allows the business owner to let go of these tasks and zone in on their strengths and areas of expertise.

She provides them with the support and social media management they need to reach higher levels of engagement and visibility. With their bigger, better digital presence, it becomes easier to be seen and heard in an online world filled with noise.

LarionneMariah.com offers both small businesses, medium businesses, and solopreneurs services including web creation, ad account setups, brand audits, and social media management. She offers her clients the opportunity to free up their time by tackling their digital and social needs.

By bringing clients the results they love with realistic expectations, she offers them freedom of time, less headaches and frustration, and accelerated business growth.

If you’d like to learn more about Larionne Mariah and her social media management services, find her at LarionneMariah.com. Isn’t it about time to take your business to the next level?

As certified health, life, and spiritual coach, Gabby Miller is on a journey to help others push past their past traumas, connect to their power, and build their emotional intelligence. She helps clients connect their body, mind, and soul and guides them to a place of healing.

She once struggled with her mental health challenges. On finding a path to healing, she knew she could help others. It was her calling as an empath to connect with others and help them journey to a place of health and well-being. In going through her Empath Alignment Accelerator program, which is a group coaching course that runs for 8 weeks, she’s able to coach clients in an environment that enables them to move forward, awaken their potential, and have a deeper understanding of their emotions.

Cultivating and nourishing strong relationships is vital, as well as being fully in touch with your emotions. Self-awareness is critical in her clients reaching their peak potential. But, to heal and grow, they must look at past traumas and issues to push beyond them. It’s a program that speaks to the heart. Gabby includes multiple modalities in the healing journey.

If she can bring about peace so others can have a spiritual awakening, she knows she’ll have succeeded in helping them build resilience. Gabby knows what it’s like to struggle and can relate to her clients. She’s been there. She learned to heal, though it took a long time. But, through hard work and opening herself to spiritual aspects within her, she was able to put a difficult past which included being plagued by depression, anxiety, and self-harm behind her. Gabby leads others on a journey of healing, so they too can be free of their internal struggles.

When clients are willing to be vulnerable and focus on healing, there’s a better path ahead. She values self-healing, taking care of oneself, emotional intelligence, along understanding her connections to a Higher Power. By leading her clients on a path of a better realization, one where their body, mind, and soul works in sync and is free from their traumas and struggles of the path, she helps them connect to their true potential.

If you’d like to connect with Gabby or learn more about her program, you can find her on Instagram or via her program, Empath Alignment Accelerator.

A holistic solution to women’s potential

Sophie Shepherd, FDN-P is the Founder and CEO of SHE TALKS HEALTH, produced THE SHE TALKS HEALTH PODCAST, and is a women’s menstrual and hormone health coach.

Sophie helps women around the globe transform their menstrual and hormone health through a combination of root cause diagnostic testing and nutrition and lifestyle science, so they can finally have straight answers to their most mystifying symptoms.

Sophie’s mission is to educate and empower women about how they can use their menstrual cycle as a superpower to reclaim their health and get their lives back!

Tell us more about yourself and what you do.

As a functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner (FDN-P) and health coach who specializes in empowering women with their menstrual health, I talk a lot about periods, hormones, and all the things that influence them. I believe that all menstruating women have a choice – they can either fight against nature, hating their hormones and their bodies, or they can tap into an untapped superpower and work with the natural ebbs and flows of their hormones through the month. The hormonal cascade influences how we act and react, how we show up at work, how we communicate with our partners and staff, and how we tackle projects and deadlines. It impacts everything.

We are in control of the health outcomes we want to achieve. Once we take charge of our health, we can have the world. All we need are the tools to do that. I give women the tools so they can stop feeling held back by their health challenges and get back to thriving.

I do this through functional lab testing, deep coaching, and loving support. Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioners believe that downstream symptoms are part of larger upstream hidden stressors. As an FDN-P, I dig deep into the root causes and hidden imbalances in the body from heavy metal toxicity to mineral imbalances, gut dysfunction, and stealth infections that can cause a woman’s hormones and period to get disturbed.

Once we have the data, I develop a program of customized behavioral, lifestyle, and dietary changes, then coach them through a unique journey. It’s a journey that will not only change how they feel right now but also put them on a trajectory of health and vitality for the long haul.

Most women who come to see me are sick and tired of being sick and tired! They are struggling with brain fog and fatigue that prevent them from climbing the ladder at work. They are dealing with anxiety and depression that make them want to curl up in a ball under the covers. Their periods are either missing, irregular or so unbearably painful that they can’t even go to work, play with their kids, or schedule a fun night out. They are holding onto weight that makes them feel terrible about themselves. They’ve tried every diet, tincture, pill, and exercise routine. They’re at a loss as to why they feel so awful and are desperate to know how they can get back to themselves.

Through their work with me, they get answers to their questions about their mysterious symptoms and those symptoms disappear. But it’s deeper than that, they learn how to listen to their bodies, and transform their lives with the confidence and vitality they deserve. They know they can do anything they want without being held back.

How did you create your brand, and what inspired you?

I created SHE TALKS HEALTH on a napkin in a bar in Astoria, NY with my boyfriend. The genesis came years prior, sparked from my health journey. I’d had years of digestive issues since I was 16. After seven years of suffering through flares from my IBS all through high school and college, the stress in my life toppled my health at the young age of 22.

My hair was falling out; my fatigue was unbearable; my depression and anxiety were peaking; I was overweight and miserable. It wasn’t a way to live. I turned to my doctor for help, and she said, “You are probably just depressed.”

But I knew better, depression couldn’t make me feel like an 80-year-old stuck in a 20-year-old’s body.

I advocated for myself (something I’ve had to do and now teach my clients to do routinely). She ran blood work and found I was hypothyroid, prescribed me medication for my thyroid, and told me I’d be on the meds for the rest of my life.

After about six months on those meds, I wound up back in her office because the symptoms crept back. I wanted a full thyroid panel.

She told me “You are making this too complicated, your thyroid is normal, there is nothing I can do for you, go seek psychiatric medication.”

This is when I decided that I had had enough! I googled, searched, and found a functional medicine physician who listened to me, heard me, and taught me how to heal my body using lifestyle medicine.

That was 9 years ago. I no longer have IBS, nor do I take medication for my thyroid.

Once I healed, I knew I had a responsibility to let other women know they didn’t have to feel this way–with no outlets for support, no resources to know what was going on in their health, and no control over their bodies

And thus, SHE TALKS HEALTH began.

Today, I do anything and everything I can to empower and educate women through my various programs and resources. I have the SHE TALKS HEALTH PODCAST where I interview top doctors and practitioners on all things women’s health.

My 1:1 VIP SHINE HEALTH EXPERIENCE is designed for powerful, hard-working female leaders and moms who are sick and tired of having their health hold them back. Over 6 months, these VIP clients get hands-on support from me every single day, where I guide them through a customized holistic lifestyle plan based on their unique lab work so they can stop letting hormonal chaos run their world.

I also have an incredibly exciting new offering – EmpowerHER, a 12 week Gut & Hormone Transformation group program. I partnered with Kylene Terhune, another incredible FDN-P, to give women a community + the lab testing to get to the bottom of their digestive and hormone imbalances.

We are always creating new things at SHE TALKS HEALTH, and are super excited for our new DONE FOR YOU courses which will come out in 2021, for women who need to take the health journey at their own pace.

What is your giveaway idea?

I’d love your readers to access my free seed cycling guide so they can start supporting all phases of their menstrual cycle with one easy lifestyle change!

Be sure to grab your free Seed Cycling for Hormonal Balance, a generous food guide that can help lead you back to happy, hormonal health from SHE Talks Health.

What challenges did you face as you build your brand? What challenges do you face daily?

When you become a health coach, they don’t teach you to “niche down” or how to balance a budget or market yourself. You think, okay, I’m here. I’m ready to help people….and Nothing Happens.

This happened to me. I had this deep desire to help women, but I didn’t know how to get my message out. It was a rough couple of years, working 4 part-time jobs including being a health coach until I hired my business coach, Kristin Thomas, of the Health and Wellness Business School. She taught me how to run a business not just as a practitioner but as a CEO. How to grow, expand, and reach my audience so that my message can reach thousands of women who need this.

I also had to deal with my challenges. You see, personal issues ARE your business issues. I had money mindset issues, self-worth issues, and so much more. I hired another coach, Ani Manian, who works on changing the subconscious mind. He helped me work through all my limiting belief systems that were holding me back from feeling like I had something to offer!

Now, my day to day challenges are very different – mainly it’s time and growth. My company is in the position of exponential growth. Figuring out how to grow and still meet the standards of our clientele and manage a team of three women who are all committed to the mission of SHE TALKS HEALTH is a challenge. One of my dreams is to hire junior coaches who are just as scared as I was when I started my business, and give them a haven to hone their skills.

How do you manage your business finances? Were you funded?

Ha! Funding would have been nice! No, this is all self-funded. One year ago, I had a choice. I could keep playing small or dive in completely. I chose the latter which meant investing in my business, and in truth, investing in myself.

I used low interest or 0% APR credit cards to finance my incredible coaches. Once I learned how to do marketing and sales, I’ve been able to steadily save, pay off debt, and pay my team. The most incredible thing about my income is that it’s from women whose lives I have the privilege of helping to change. There is no better reward than that.

What’s your future vision? How far do you want to take your business? What is your next level dream?

I dream of massive ripple effects with SHE TALKS HEALTH. I want to continue to be on the cutting edge of the future of functional nutrition and women’s health. I want our brand to have the finances to invest in period advocacy worldwide, to help women in impoverished areas have access to women’s health education. I dream of a world where SHE TALKS HEALTH funds sex education that includes a section where boys and girls are taught the beauty of the woman’s menstrual cycle, and that it shouldn’t be something shameful or to be feared. I dream of a world where our brand can help train employees and CEOS of the power behind using the menstrual cycle to leverage productivity in the female workforce.

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

If you have a fire in your belly and a dream in your heart, you can do anything. Just keep going. You can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Thoughts and intentions are everything. Create a gratitude journal, do manifestation exercises, and get out of your way – the only person holding you back is you.

More than anything, she loves to help other people understand how to connect sustainable travel with their passion. When women are inspired to make change happen, combining their voice, unique perspectives, and the ability to connect with others they thrive. So, how does she bring these elements together?

Meet Entrepreneur Sydney Yelton, owner of Star Heart. This impactful leadership coach helps women learn how to combine passion, travel, and purposeful living to make change happen. She uses both a clarifying message and guidance, by connecting with women through a coaching process.

Teaching women how to solo travel with purpose, can create change. Many women are intimidated at the idea of traveling solo, but it’s a great way to work on personal growth and development and can truly connect you to your passion. By helping to find women their unique voice, the change they create can be impactful!

Sydney focuses on holistic travel. Rather than thinking of travel as only a weekly vacation, you take without much thought into where you’re going or what you plan to do, allow travel to aid in personal growth. It can help drive you to make a difference in the world. Purposeful living and purposeful travel can be combined as a means to fulfill your heart and mind.

If you’ve been looking for a leadership coach who can help guide you on a quest for growth, Sydney offers coaching either in a group setting or 1:1 to help women find and use their voice and passion. In doing this, it helps you align your values and empower you to take action. She does this through education, motivational empowerment, and skills she’s learned from her own traveling experiences.

Your choices and actions matter. Choose to use them for good, live with purpose, and fulfill your combined need to do something that makes a difference to your heart. Share who you are with others. Connect with like-minded women, and in return, you’ll empower them to shine.

Sydney intends to connect women and empower them to finally do the things that matter to them. Through purposeful living, passion, and guided actions, the possibilities are endless. If you’d like to learn more about Sydney or her coaching program, you can find her at StarHeartTravel.com.
