Lulu Siciliano is the co-founder of two brands focused on permanent makeup, Microbeau International and Evenflo Colours. Along with her companies, she started offering online courses to those looking to enhance their skills. With years of experience behind her, it was a perfect fit.
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Lulu Siciliano, in my native language, Lubov. For years, permanent makeup has been the focus of my career and companies. It’s how I met my husband/ What I love is that even working intensely as I develop my business, it also allows me the flexibility to enjoy time with my toddler.
How did you create your permanent makeup brands? What were the ideas behind them?
I’m the co-founder of Microbeau International (2017) and Evenflo Colours, some of the major manufacturers of machines and pigment suppliers to the cosmetic tattooing industry. With years of experience, and even as I continue to work in the field that I love, giving brow, lip and eyeliner treatments in my Microbeau studio, I decided to expand my offerings.
Through my website PMUbyLulu.com, I offer online courses to new artists and professionals who are interested in learning more about the industry and want to enhance their knowledge and skills.
How do your different brands work? (Microbeau, Evenflo Colours, and PMUbyLuLu.com)
It can be difficult for new permanent makeup technicians to know what good machines are, what’s good PMU work, and which trainers can offer you solid, concise information. Because I took the opportunity to learn in cities where permanent makeup is very popular and the artists are always looking to new technology, trends and knowledge, I knew I had a lot to offer.
At Microbeau we develop advanced-technology machines with all of the customizations for permanent makeup technicians. The Evenflo Colours pigment line perfects the formulas to make our clients look absolutely stunning.
Through my online classes at PMUbyLulu.com, I aim to give students the facts, so they have a strong base. I also reveal my preferences, so they have an idea of how to apply this information for beautiful and safe results.
And of course, I welcome new clients looking to enhance their appearance! It’s such a pleasure to have someone in my seat who loves my work and wants to treat themselves with a beauty procedure.
Do you have a thought or idea you’d like to share with our readers about permanent makeup artists? Something that they’d be interested to know?
PMU artists love our craft. We love beauty. We love our clients. We love the thank you’s we receive from them! To grow that career we must focus on making each step a quality step. Never settle. Your clients deserve the best – and so do you!
In this business you can afford the best and there is nothing to stop you from reaching the top, as long as you foment that love for your craft. Practice a lot, use the best tools, learn from the best and you will see your craft bloom.
What challenges did you face while creating your businesses, and what daily challenges do you face on an everyday basis?
Microbeau International was opening in a market where there are few artists that are truly in control of the design of the machines. It was almost taken for granted that PMU machines are manufactured by companies who make electronics in general, but not by artists. It took a lot of marketing for artists to realize that the maker of the Microbeau machines was one of them and knew exactly what they needed!
Evenflo Colours was entering a market where a few big players dominate the landscape and I had to focus on differentiating my line and getting it into the hands of artists so they could see just how easy the formula is to use!
As far as PMU by Lulu, it’s a lot of personal outreach. I enjoy the one-on-one contact with artists who respect my work as well as the clients who reach out. It’s intensive to “put yourself out there,” and show your work on a daily basis, keep that constant contact with everyone, but it’s also a joy.
What’s your future vision for your different brands? What does your dream of the next level look like, especially having multiple businesses?
There is no limit for Microbeau International, Evenflo Colours and my more personal business, PMU by Lulu. Microbeau is setting the standards, creating products that artists are running after and are already relying on as their go-to machines.
Evenflo Colours formulas just keep getting better and better and more accurate. Through PMU by Lulu I am creating comprehensive training that will start off all future and current artists in a much better position; one of knowledge and confidence in what they’ve learned. In return, they can offer their clients wonderful results.
What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?
If you are strong in your knowledge, passionate and obsessed, you can do it. It may be tiring, but it won’t feel like work. You are feeding your passion and standing on the strong foundation of your knowledge.
What’s new with your company? Is anything interesting coming up?
You’ll never guess how many surprises we have for artists coming out this year, from revolutionary products, fun sets that artists will love, and more informational courses that will be foundational for many technicians.
All of my brands are growing strongly and exponentially. I’m working at 100 miles per hour! It’s exhilarating to be that powerhouse. I’ve got a great team that’s helping that happen. Get ready because 2021 will have many, good surprises for artists and the beauty industry coming from my brands.
